As a counterpoint to yesterday’s Worst Idea about employee engagement, here’s a short, crisp article that pretty much gets it right about employee engagement. It was published on BusinessNewsDaily.com and is titled: “The 4 Things That Keep Employees Interested In Their Jobs”.
What I like most about the piece is that it puts the focus where it belongs—on employees’ state of mind as opposed to on ever-longer lists of mechanistic/instrumental tools and techniques.
The “4 Things”? Purpose. Excellence. Support. Future.
To my way of thinking, that’s roughly right, which ain’t bad.
